Economic Vitality is a core part of the WCDC mission
and this means strengthening Westside businesses.
Westside businesses are essential to the success of our community.
The goals of the Westside Business Network (WBN) are to increase visibility and advocacy for our businesses through productive and fun social events. WBN Meet-Ups connect you with local leaders, resources and agencies. WBN Field Trips explore the Westside while bringing visibility to local businesses. WBN events are always friendly and bilingual.
Most importantly, the Westside Business Network helps the WCDC understand the needs and issues our businesses face. By being a part of the WBN, you are creating a more connected community while building a platform for strengthening the Westside.
WBN CALENDAR OF EVENTS
From March through July, it's FREE to participate in the WBN.
** WORKSHOP CALENDAR FOR 2020-2021 IS IN THE WORKS- PLEASE CHECK BACK **
LAST YEAR'S SCHEDULE:
The WBN welcomes our city council representative, Sophia Rubalcava.
Come get to know Ms. Rubalcava and share your experiences as a Westside business with her.
Sculptor and WBN member, Manny Cisneros, will take us on a tour of the amazing Art City.
Founded in 1983, Art City features a gallery, a sculpture garden and a labyrinth of outdoor sculpture studios where you can meet artists, see works-in-progress and enjoy one-of-a-kind creations. Bring a camera - there is no place on earth like this Westside treasure. Check out this Huell Howser video on Art City.
Talk shop and policy with City Staff - Meet with Cary Glenn from Ventura’s Economic Development Department to learn about their city-wide plans, their different support services, and to help her get to know you and your business.
The WBN explores G & S Building Supply - a westside institution. Find out fun facts about one of Ventura's oldest businesses, tour the grounds and win the contest for inventing the most imaginative use of a tool or piece of hardware.
The WBN comes together to learn about becoming a certified Green Business. What are the benefits? What's the process? We will learn from city staff about the California Green Business Network and brainstorm ways to publicize and celebrate Westside businesses that become certified.
