The vitality of a neighborhood is reflected in its built and social environment. The WCDC envisions “the Avenue” mirroring the pride and aspirations of its residents and businesses. We are starting with two successful revitalization programs:
Avenue Ambassador Pilot Program ~ March 25 - June 14, 2019
The WCDC, in partnership with Downtown Ventura Partners, is piloting the Avenue Ambassador program for three months. The Ambassador will circulate on the Avenue to assist residents and businesses with creating a welcoming and safe Westside.
During that time we expect a significant decrease in negative incidents reported on the Avenue, strengthened communications between the WCDC and local businesses and improvements in cleanliness. It is the WCDC’s hope that the Avenue Ambassador Program will prove indispensable, allowing us to secure the funding needed to sustain it with the long-term goal of increasing vibrancy and economic activity on the Avenue.
The WCDC will be raising funds to continue the Avenue Ambassador Program after the pilot period ends in June. If you would like to get involved in building support for the program, please contact Jackie Pearce at the WCDC at Director@WestsideVentura.org or call 805-628-3869.
One-Block-at-a-Time Facade & Mural Beautification Program
Launched in 2016, this program helps property owners invest in beautifying their business facades. We may provide funds for eligible projects as well as connect owners to artists, assist in navigating the city permitting process, and can help secure discounted materials.
Some projects may be eligible for funding assistance through our grants program.

Neighborhood Pride Clean-Ups
Our longest running program, this annual event gets neighbors involved in beautifying their block by providing free waste removal and recycling.
Presented with the support of EJ Harrison, CityKidz, Restore, and the City of Ventura Environmental Sustainability Division.
